The best space on level one of Blue Chip Casino is It’s Vegas Baby! This is where the annual preview of the Brewfest always begins. 30% of Northwest Indiana residents work in Chicago. The Skyway rips through city neighborhoods with ease across the border giving us access to fireworks, worthwhile gasoline, and of course Indiana Breweries.
One of the region’s best-kept secrets is this Casino + Spa just a couple miles from Lake Michigan and South Shore’s commuter line. Last year’s event sold out and attracted over 2500 enthusiasts to this Vegas style getaway in the prairie.
Chicagoland is a monster these days with 71 breweries in city proper and another 126 in the burbs. Starting at Sears Tower, a destination like Michigan City, Indiana is about the same distance as Two Brothers (Aurora, IL) or Brickstone (Bourbonnais,IL).
Every year the guest of honor hosts Blue Chip Brewfest luncheon. It’s the ballroom pregame offering VIP features and early entry. In 2017 Laura Bell of Bell’s Brewery hosted. This year Chairman of the Board, Revolution Brewing’s Josh Deth will do the honors.
Upland Brewing will bring the experience of their Wood Shop to this year’s festival. A replica of the Bloomington, IN taproom where award winning sour ales are wood aged for packaging opens at noon.
Over 70 breweries and 300 beers make up the Brewfest 2018 taplist. The preview served as an intro to the catering program and what luncheon pairings you can expect on May 5th.
Burn’Em, Shoreline and Zorn Brew Works are located in Michigan City. It is definitely a recommended excursion.
